2022 YEG Specialist Council Carousel has ended
THIS IN-PERSON EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELLED AND HAS BEEN RESCHEDULED TO A VIRTUAL EVENT BEING HELD ON 2022 02 05.

Thank you for your interest/registering to attend the Specialist Council Preservice Carousel scheduled to take place on Saturday, 2022 02 12 in Edmonton at the University of Alberta. The event will provide preservice teachers with an opportunity to learn about specialist councils, join a council at no cost, and attend workshops of high interest to those at an early stage of their career.

The emergence of the omicron variant of COVID-19 and related developments, including the delay in many school jurisdictions in opening this month, staff shortages, rapid increases in the number of infections (including breakthrough infections of previously vaccinated people), have required the Association to revisit the direction it previously provided to hosting in-person events.

Effective immediately, all Association meetings and activities are to be conducted virtually until future notice. Therefore we will be cancelling the in-person event and moving to a virtual event on Saturday, 2022 02 05. For those who registered for the 2022 02 12 Carousel in Edmonton and are interested in joining the virtual event, please register at https://2022yycspecialistcouncilcarousel.sched.com/.

We look forward to seeing you then!

Similar to first aid training, this workshop will give teachers the basic information they need to identify and help students who may be experiencing mental health issues. Lessons learned in this workshop are not confined to the classroom however, and the skills acquired will also help teachers understand the feelings their colleagues, and even themselves, may be experiencing at times. Participants will leave with practical strategies and interventions to promote positive mental health.
